Principles in understanding, detecting and managing equine periodontal disease associated with diastema formation in the equine oral cavity. The lecture will review how to address oral mechanical imbalances in order to avoid diastemata to develop and how to achieve clinical improvement by adapted rasping techniques. Essential guidelines for basic and also advanced periodontal treatment will be discussed.
